For years, I’ve been using natural, simple products to keep my home clean and fresh. They are effective, inexpensive, safe for children and pets, and much better for the environment than most store-bought cleaners. Here are my three all-time favorites.

1. White vinegar
White vinegar is a true multi-purpose cleaner. It can be used for almost everything:
-
Make your own all-purpose spray
-
Descale your coffee maker or kettle
-
Disinfect toilets
-
Remove limescale
Quick DIY spray (500 ml bottle) :
-
200 ml of white vinegar
-
Hot water
Pour the vinegar into a spray bottle, top up with hot water, shake gently, and your cleaner is ready.

2. Black soap
Black soap is another natural product I always keep at home. It’s effective for:
-
Cleaning floors
-
Washing dishes
-
Doing laundry
-
Even cleaning the car
For floors :
-
Fill a bucket halfway with hot water
-
Add one capful of black soap
-
Wash your floor
-
Rinse with clear water

3. Baking soda
Baking soda is the go-to product for bad odors.
-
Place a small bowl of baking soda in the fridge to absorb smells
-
Combine with vinegar to clean carpets after pet accidents
-
Sprinkle in bins to keep them fresh
It’s cheap, safe, and incredibly versatile.
By using these three products—white vinegar, black soap, and baking soda—you can replace most chemical cleaners and make your home both cleaner and healthier. And if you like a pleasant scent, just add a few drops of essential oil or even citrus peels.
